6 years old Stefek challenges providence. The boy believes that a string of small events he has provoked will let him get closer to his father, who abandoned his mother for another woman. Stefek’s sister, the 17 years old Elka, teaches him how to “bribe” fate with small sacrifices. However, in the deciding moment the children have nothing valuable to sacrifice.
